![]() I have bought Paul Noble's Spanish course. My method for learning Spanish this year will be multi-pronged, and will follow something like this:ġ. All language learning just takes time, I think. I have no special language ability (in school I used to think I had a language disability!). >8 aqeeliz: You should maybe have another go and we could compare progress over the year :) Coffee is available and the sofa is comfy :) I also try to read some classics each year, some non fiction and other works out of those genres.Īnyway, I hope you will star my thread and stop by every now and again. ![]() Oh yes, some of my favourite genres are Young Adult, Sci Fi, Coming of Age, Fantasy and Historical. My hope is to read all of those this year, but with 66 non English books (so far) I may have to be content with just making in-roads into those. These are made up of the following totals by language: Meanwhile I have 108 books to read on my TBR. That means Spain, probably Portugal (depending on route) and France but also hopefully Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany. I will be continuing that walking progress this year, working my way along the European Union long distance path network and flavouring my reading with books from, set in, about or in the language of the countries I visit. Last year I also copied Lori's idea of a virtual walk, and my walking progress took me from Palermo, Sicily to just beyond Gibralter in Spain. I also read books in 7 different languages + English last year, and this year I will be aiming for 8+English (hoping to be able to read at least one book in Spanish at some point later in the year). My record in any one year is 256, but some years I would struggle to reach 75, so I will stick with the 75 book challenge group (also because I have a number of friends in this group). Last year it was Greek (which turns out to be one of the hardest to learn yet, but I made good progress). I also like languages, and for a while now have been trying to learn one new language a year. My hobbies include walking, cycling, kayaking and surfing (obviously), although these days I mostly just surf in my kayak. I live in Aberystwyth, on the west coast of Mid Wales. ![]() Is it January 9th already? Then it is past time I introduced my 2018 reading thread. ![]()
